Housed alongside alumni foundation within advancement, my role in communications and marketing includes editorship and digital construction (iModules) of alumni magazine, various marketing such as brochures, and contributions to local/regional media. Staff at Ocala, FL I've had a strong hand in all corporate releases for one year beginning June 1, 2016. The company is part of a large, manufacturing and financial conglomerate, and so my role is different than with other organizations where I would determine projects and handle them start to finish, from interview to distribution. These require working with many departments and organizations including dealerships, military and executive staff with corporate approval processes taking weeks, many simultaneously. My contribution entails fact gathering and writing, and also getting still images and video which I also edit and use in social media to augment the official releases. Samples include instances where I made the largest contributions but all are a team effort.
Western Nebraska Community College, Staff Press release, photos, news blog, social media, event planning, and regional news coverage development contributing to an to an increase in program enrollment while national and regional trends were down. Freelance, Mesilla Valley Business Journal, Las Cruces / Real Estate Weekly, El Paso
From a weekly feature I wrote. News tabloids allowed me the opportunity to develop my own style of soft journalism and content marketing. This story with business owner Roberto Estrada has proven the most popular Online. It's also a personal favorite.
Freelance, America Magazine From story idea and choice of market to final editorial approval, as well as tracking down a priest and a state congressperson for interview, this is a highly exemplative of my overall approach and narrative style in feature writing and Public Relations. I also shot and tweaked the images, first cutting my teeth in Photoshop.
Freelance, Mesilla Valley Business Journal Another favorite, it's always the most fun to create content for a good person and a product I use. I always had a great time at My Brother's Place, and enjoyed meeting the man behind it.
